The Buffalo & Erie County Public Library's Rare Collections hold many treasures including the original manuscript of Mark Twain's Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, donated by former Buffalo resident Twain himself. Equally significant are Shakespeare's four First Folios, Birds of America by John James Audubon, World War I posters, and a considerable collection of first edition Bibles.
For two years, beginning October 2015, the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library will highlight one of its greatest rare jewels - the Milestones of Science collection of 197 specifically collected rare books, an assemblage unparalleled for its revolutionary content: the greatest ideas in the history of science, the foundation for everything we know in our world today.
